Chaos of NiTi Systems

The use of rotary nickel-titanium (NiTi) endodontic instruments has expanded dramatically since the first attempts at manufacturing endodontic files from super elastic alloy. Rotary NiTi instruments became first choose in modern root canal instrumentation. New cross-section designs, variable tapers and different preparation techniques were introduced and adopted very quickly to the NiTi instrumentation. Also new kinematics adopted to the NiTi files such as reciprocation and adaptive motion to make the root canal preparation efficiently, simply and safely. There are lots of brand of NiTi files that available in the market. Today practitioners want to know which NiTi rotary system is simple to use, reliable and allows predictable results. In this lecture the mechanical and physical properties of the novel NiTi file systems and the benefit of this innovations on root canal preparation will be discussed.
