Melek Turgut graduated from Hacettepe University in 1993. She completed her Ph.D. in Pediatric Dentistry at Hacettepe University. She received the title of “Associate Professor" in 2006 and “Professor” in 2012.  She has been studied as a visiting researcher at the University of Bern, School of Dental Medicine in Bern, Switzerland. Her areas of interest are preventive dentistry, medically compromised patients, dental erosion and dental materials. She is the member of European Association of Dental Public Health and Turkish Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She is married and has a son.


Role of Oral Dental Health Technician in Preventive Dentistry


Oral health is an inseparable component of general well-being. The preventive measures aiming to improve oral health also helps in enhancing general health, lowering the health expenditures, lowering the workload of health workers as well as improving the life quality of the patients. In this presentation; the factors affecting oral health, preventive dentistry practices and the role of oral dental health technicians will be discussed.
