Erhan FIRATLI

Dr.Firatli was graduated from School of Dentistry,University of Istanbul in 1984 with a diploma of DDS, and received a PhD diploma from the Health Sciences Institute of University of Istanbul in 1990. Attended as an associate professor at 1994, and his degree became a full professor at the year 2000. He has been also lecturing in the PhD programme of Department of Immunology of Health Sciences Institute of University of Istanbul since 1994.Dr. Fıratlı was invited to work as a visiting professor at 1996 in the University of Washington, School of Dentistry and took the position of adjunct professorship between 1999 to 2003 in University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. He served as a consultant in NIH/NIDCR between 2004 and 2007, and member of TUBİTAK-SBAG between 2007 and 2010. He is the current president of OSSEDER and serving as ambassador of EAO. He is the author of more than 90 internationally published papers and also serving as a member in the editorial boards of Journal of Periodontology, and reviewer in various international journals.


Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) Applications


Various biomaterials are being used in regeneration or reparation of the hard and soft tissue in dentistry . In the early beginning autolog concentrate blood products were applied as tissue adhesives in clinical medicine. Later on, particullarly platelet rich fibrin products were highly demanded as biological reparation material. Thrombocyte rich blood products has widely used for treatment of gingival recession, to change the morphology of the gingival tissues, to accelerate the new bone formation and for the treanment of periimplantitis. The aim of this article is to clarify the past, current ststus and future of the platelet rich fibrin products.
