The Relationship Between Periodontal Disease and Hyperlipidemia
It is thought that the relationship between two inflammatory diseases, periodontitis and cardiovascular diseases, (as well as common risk factors), may be explained by atherogenesis; and by serum lipid levels and profile as one of the inflammatory mechanisms clarifying atherogenesis’ pathogenesis. In this presentation, the relationship between periodontal disease and hyperlipidemia, periodontal treatment and the treatment of hyperlipidemia, and their effect on the periodontal and systemic health will be evaluated in the light of the current literature.
She was born in 1975 in Tekirdağ. She graduated from the Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1997 and had her PhD degree in Hacettepe University, Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Periodontology in 2001. In 2001, she started to work in Süleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology. She became Assistant Professor in 2003, Associate Professor in 2009 and Professor in 2014. She still continues her academic studies as a Faculty Associate and Chairman at Süleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology. She is a member of the Turkish Society of Periodontology, the European Federation of Periodontology and the Osseder. Professional interests focused on systemic diseases and the relationship between periodontal diseases, aging and periodontal tissues, Th17 cells in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease. She is married and has two children.
