Role of Dentists in Sleep Related Breathing Disorders
What is the Role of the Dentists/Orthodontists in the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of Sleep related breathing disorders (SBD)? How can multidisciplinary approach contribute to the treatment prognosis and the stability of results? What are the possible sources of the current debate in the literature with regard to the relationship between respiratory problems and malocclusion development? How could we approach this issue in our everyday practice?


T. Ufuk Toygar Memikoğlu graduated from Hacettepe University, School of Dentistry in 1988. She completed her orthodontic PhD in 1994 at Ankara University, School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics. She became a professor in 2003 in the same department. Her academic and clinical interests are; orthognathic surgery, pediatric obstructive sleep apnea, treatment of cleft lip and palate, multidisciplinary treatments and facial aesthetics. She is a member of Turkish Orthodontic Society, World Federation of Orthodontics, Society of Forensic Science and Sleep Society. She was the past President of the Turkish Orthodontic Society. She is married and has a daughter.
