Importance of Condyle Position in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning - Temporomandibular Joint Oriented Treatment Planning

Correct and effective treatment is only possible with accurate diagnosis. In order to be able to put the definite recognition, it is necessary to have enough knowledge about existing and possible problems. The stable temporomandibular joint position should be the starting point during the detection of the patient's true malocclusion. From this point of view, a goal oriented treatment plan is created through the collected records and analyzes. In particular, treatment planning becomes even more important for patients presenting to our clinic with TMJ complaints. Many patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) problems also have incompatibility in their occlusions. Occlusion is not the only reason for the occurrence of TMD problems, but it is an important issue.  The history and records from such patients should be elaborated to determine whether the temporomandibular joint problem is associated with occlusion. In this presentation, the points to be considered in the diagnosis and the treatment procedures will be shown with patient samples suffering from temporomandibular joint problems.
