Radiological Assessment: Interactive Case Discussion
Clinical and radiological assessment is an integral part of diagnosis and treatment planning in routine dental practice. For this purpose, in addition to frequently utilized two-dimensional periapical and panoramic radiographic techniques three dimensional cone beam computed tomographic images are being prescribed recently. Moreover, ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging are also utilized in order to assess various abnormalities and pathologies in today’s dental radiology. In general, radiologically assessed radiopaque and radiolucent lesions of the dentomaxillofacial region may be classified as cysts, infections, bone dysplasia, hyperplasia, benign tumors, malignant tumors and systematic/metabolic diseases that affect jaws. Differentiation of these entities is crucial in terms of treatment planning and prognosis. In this presentation, my aim is to present and discuss diagnosis options of various cases which were diagnosed after referral to our dentomaxillofacial radiology department clinic in an interactive question and answer based session.
