WHY AND HOW SHOULD WE IRRIGATE, AND WHAT SHOULD WE USE FOR A SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT?
Irrigation of root canals, is one of the crucial steps that indicate the success of endodontic treatment. Different irrigation solutions and application techniques have come to the fore and their effectiveness has been examined in countless studies. Researchers agree that if infected root canals are present, success is mostly related with mechanical debridement together with effectiveness of irrigation. In this presentation; first, effectiveness of irrigaition on success, then the issue of technique and solution choice for an easy and effective irrigation will be disscussed by means of current knowlegde. It is also aimed to provide information about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of possible complicatins of irrigation.
He was born in Malatya in 1958. In 1981, he recieved his dental degree from A.U Faculty of Dentistry. In 1986 he started I.U. Faculty of Dentistry Depertmant of Restorative Dentistry as a Research Assistant. He completed his PhD studies at University of Paris 7 Faculty of Dentisty in France between 1987-1989 and in 1991 he recieved the title of Dr. Med. Dent. He recieved his title as an Associate Professor in 1997 and Professor in 2003 from I. U. Faculty of Dentistry Depertmant of Restorative Dentistry.
He has served in various positions in Turkish Endodontics Association for many years and has been the president for two terms. He is still the Senator of I. U. Faculty of Dentistry and works as a faculty member in the Department of Endodontics.
