The Power of Clot in New Bone Formation

Alveolar bone loss occurs due to periodontal disease, tooth extraction, and atrophy. This is a major problem especially before implant surgery. Throughout history, missing tissue / organs have been repaired by using artificial / non-body materials. Similarly, many different biomaterials have been used during bone augmentation  procedures. In recent years, the importance of biomimetic methods mimicking the natural has begun to be understood and clinical practice have become widespread. But we are just beginning to understand the biological language that our body uses. Blood is the original repair material of our body. Our body does not take an external substance to repair the damage itself, only uses its own blood. The properties and stability of the formed clot guide the tissues to be formed later. Understanding the clot and its properties well and using it correctly is crucial in determining the quality and quality of the tissue. Platelet-rich fibrins (PRF) are fast, practical and economical products that are completely autogenous. It has many application in both hard and soft tissue treatments. In this talk, we will talk about the types, characteristics and power of PRF in natural bone formation.
